Change Is A’Coming!

Ah, 2018! The year; Ducati released the Ducati Panigale V4 S super bike, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner began direct flights between Perth and London, the Commonwealth Games were held on the Gold Coast, and I started sharing my t-shirt designs with the world—largely so I could have the type of t-shirts I love to wear.

Since then, I’ve had fun designing t-shirts under the strap-line “Ride it, Wear it, Live It”. Most of my designs have been bike and classic car based, with the occasional more arty subjects like engine parts, bridges and cafes.

I still enjoy drawing these, but when I’ve finished the day job sometimes it’s hard to find the energy to find the right car or bike idea to inspire me.

Over the last year or so when I sit down to draw I’ve been finding myself drawn to other subjects like; kitschy 80’s stuff, or a cyber vibe; or even just slogans. And not all of what I’m drawing works on t-shirts. When I indulge, I feel guilty because there aren’t any new t-shirt designs.

Then there’s the social media stuff to let everyone know what I’m doing. I started out really excited with some new designs, but it’s hard work feeding the dragon of social media, especially when you’re not feeling inspired.

And, finally, a lot of my time has been eaten up with private commissions, making bespoke t-shirts for people. I love doing this, but it is time consuming and, after being deadline focussed in my day job, it is too much like hard work.

So, I stopped drawing for a while. This gave me time to think and the space to imagine what I could do if I decided to carry on. While I was thinking, my url expired and this was a bit of a kick in the pants.

Now I’m back, and over the next month or so I will be rebranding and trying something new. I’m going to concentrate on the designs, and I’m going to have fun and try different things. Some might work and some might not. There will be cars, and bikes and trucks, but there will also be things that simply take my fancy. Note to self, I probably need a new strap-line.

I’m employing an elf to help me keep social media and the website up to date, and on trying my designs on different products. We won’t be in your face every day, but we will be posting a little more regularly.

Over the next couple of months the website will be changing. We are rebranding, and we will be making shopping for the designs easier. My SM Elf will be keeping you updated on what designs are available to buy, and from where.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you. What are your favourites from the old designs? Do you have any suggestions for new designs? To encourage your input, we’ll be running some giveaways on social media over the next few months, so don’t forget to follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/oldpachwy/ and on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/oldpachwycc/ so you can be in to win. We will also be having a newsletter coming soon.
